My approach
NATUROPATHIC PRICIPLES
Naturopathic Nutrition is the practice of nutrition within the context of naturopathic medicine which is based on several principles. There is a fundamental belief in the healing power of nature and that given the right conditions, your body has the remarkable ability to self-correct.
Naturopathic practitioners aim to seek out and advise on ways to remove or reduce the cause of disease, rather than simply suppressing the symptoms as is often the case with prescription medicine. And we are full of tips and advice on supporting your everyday complaints without having to reach for the medicine cabinet or seek a doctor’s appointment.
With NHS prescription charges currently at £9.90 per item, what’s not to love about incorporating ground flax seeds and psyllium husk into your diet to relieve constipation? Its pharmaceutical counterpart, the laxative Movicol, comes with the common side effects of diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal discomfort.


HOLISTIC VIEWPOINT
You are treated as a whole person with all aspects of your life taken into consideration - not the disease or condition that is affecting you. By focusing on elements such as diet, nutrition, quality of food, movement and much more, this holistic approach looks to improve your wellbeing by implementing a range of adjustments. It does so by addressing the root causes of your health issues which are investigated, identified and treated - not just your symptoms.
A PERSONAL JOURNEY
Everyone is unique. In the nutrition world it’s a concept we call bio-individuality. We recognise that each person who seeks our support is biologically distinctive. It’s the idea that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to health and wellness. Even when supporting the same condition in different people. On the contrary, we are all unique in our genetic makeup and personal circumstances.
Also, we are all at different stages in our lives with varying demands upon us. We have different likes and dislikes, different tastes and capacity to make changes.So, everyone is managed according to their bio-individuality and create a bespoke nutrition and lifestyle plan to suit each person and their individual circumstances.
Food for thought
Rest assured a bespoke nutritional plan isn’t about removing all of life’s pleasures. I won’t be demonising foods. Ultra processed food, however, has been linked to more than 30 different health problems including heart disease, cancer and anxiety so we will be looking to remove these from your day-to-day life.
If you are looking for a real change to the way you think, feel, and experience your health issues, then it would be disingenuous to say that you can achieve this by not making any changes your current lifestyle and eating habits. But I’m certainly not going to suggest that you go on a restrictive diet for ever.
Together we agree an approach that is tailored to your specific needs, and what you feel capable of doing. And depending on what’s going on in your life right now, it will entail making dietary and lifestyle adjustments to a greater or lesser extent. Don’t be put off - we’ll go at a pace you are comfortable with but please come with an open mind.


Stressbusting
From minor challenges to major crises, stress is part of life. And while you can't always control your circumstances, you can certainly learn to control how you respond to them. When stress becomes overwhelming or chronic, it can have a significant impact on mind and body.
During our work together I will be looking to assess your stress levels and suggesting ways to mitigate and manage them as appropriate. There are a lot of simple things you can do to reduce the everyday stresses in your life. Because they can have a cumulative effect over time, it is sensible and worthwhile to do what you can do identify and remove them at the source. Stress appears in a variety of guises so I will be looking at this from a variety of angles – emotional, mental, physical, chemical and environmental.

I will be championing you on your wellness journey without judgement. This includes being available to offer guidance and feedback on your progress in between our sessions. Making changes to diet and lifestyle can be hard, which is why I offer a high level of support throughout our time together.
I work hard to help you to stay motivated, committed, and on track with your health goals.I am here for you not just to cheer you on but to also help you navigate obstacles and setbacks. I am the person who nudges you when you're veering off the path, whilst all the while providing encouragement. I’m the person to whom you are accountable. And when you're held accountable, you are more likely to follow through with the actions necessary to achieve your aims. This 'accountability' factor is my secret weapon, and yours too, in achieving long-lasting change.
